The Sirius Signal C-1002 two-color electronic Visual Distress Signal Device (eVDSD) is the world’s first marine safety electronic flare to meet the new USCG safety standard, RTCM 132.00.0, and is officially approved by the USCG, Transport Canada and MAST. Equipped with 13 high-intensity LEDs, the C-1002 offers superior brightness—delivering excellent visibility in distress situations. The C-1002 now includes a convenient suction cup display mount for enhanced placement options on any smooth surface, making it even more versatile. Additionally, it pairs with the Afloat Plan Home App for iOS and Android, providing the ability to operate the light via Bluetooth for added control.

In the U.S., the combination of the C-1002 electronic visual distress signal device (eVDSD) and a distress flag allows recreational boaters to meet visual distress signal requirements without carrying pyrotechnic flares when operating in the Great Lakes, within 12 miles of U.S. coastal waters, or on any waterway with a passage at least two miles wide leading to the sea. Vessels less than 16’ in length are not required to carry a day visual distress signal but must still carry a night visual distress signal if operating from sundown to sunrise. This makes the C-1002 an effective alternative to pyrotechnic flares for vessels operating in these conditions.
Also approved for commercial Sub Chapter M vessels for carriage
